Stampin' Celebration Sketch Challenge

 

Hi all!  There's a new sketch challenge over at Stampin' Celebration . . in case you need a break from thinking about taxes.  :-)  You'll notice I did kind of rotate the middle of the sketch a little, but I loved this sketch.  I also used this same card for one of our club meeting projects, and the ladies were pleasantly surprised at how easy this card was to put together. 

 

 
A few hints. . . . I used my brayer to easily add the Pretty in Pink ink to the Paper Doilie.  To color the flower, (one flower cut from the 5/8" Flower Trim) I dipped it into a mixture of about 5 drops of Rich Razzleberry reinker mixed with a little water.  Then pull it out and let it dry on some paper towels.  The splatter on the large Whisper White layer was made using the Color Spritzer Tool. 

The Secret Garden stamp set and coordinating framelits, flower, doilie, large Rhinestone Jewels are all found in the Spring Catalog.

Fancy Sycamore Favor

 

Today I actually have a non-Valentine's project to share.  :-)  This is a project that we made at my downline meeting this past month.  I got the idea for this project from Heather Klump--a very talented stamper! 

 

It uses several of the Sale-A-Bration items (ie FREE with a $50 purchase): the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack, the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper, and the Madison Avenue stamp set.  Note:  these are the 3 items you receive for free (in addition to all the other awesome hostess benefits) when you host a workshop or place a $400 order during Sale-A-Bration.  Yay! 

 



It's quite easy to make this fun little favor box.  I ran Island Indigo through the Big Shot with the Fancy Favor die to create the bottom of the box.  That part is assembled as usual. 

For the top of the box I used a 4" by 12" piece of the Designer Paper (so you can get 3 tops per 1 sheet of DSP) and ran it through the Big Shot again, but lined up so that you don't cut out the part that would become the tabs to make the bottom of the box.  Then adhere along the edges to make a tube, pinch the top together, punch holes, and tie it closed.  Here I used some of the Satiny Pool Party ribbon from the Sale-A-Bration pack. 

For the tag, I stamped with Summer Starfruit onto the same color card stock and then cut out using the smallest flower in the Floral Frames Framelits set.  I cut out a second flower in Pool Party to layer behind.  The sentiment was stamped with the Essentials set and then cut out using the Bitty Banners Framelits.  The Oval that creates the base of the tag was cut out using the Ovals Collection Framelits found in the Spring Catalog.

Pocket o' Hearts

 
Hi all!  Back with another Valentine's project today.  :-)  I created this using the Fab Friday color challenge, and we also made this at my Stampers Club this past weekend. 

This cute little pocket was made using the Petite Pocket die (and Big Shot).  The smallest hearts were punched out with the Small Heart punch, the medium heart (the one inside the banner) is the smallest heart from the Hearts Collection Framelits, and the banner and largest hearts were cut out using the Hearts a Flutter Framelits.  I used the Finishing Touches Edgelits to get the fun edge on the Very Vanilla Layer.  It did take lots of runs through the Big Shot, but I think it was worth it in the end.  :-) 

I crinkled the Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake hearts to give a little texture.  I also used one of the new Soda Pop Tops from the Spring Catalog.  I ran the pop top through the Big Shot (platform with no tabs and a cutting plate on top and bottom of the pop top) to flatten it a little bit.  I really like these Soda Pop Tops, but they are pretty tall (as is) to add to a project.  For me, being able to 'smash' them down a little bit makes them much more 'useable'. 

Here's a picture of the back of the pocket and the note that fits inside.  (Note: This does hold a gift card, although just barely.)  I used the button brads from the Vintage Trinkets collection and Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine for the enclosure.

12 Days of Christmas--Day 11--Lots of Ornaments

 

 
Day 11 of the '12 Days of Christmas'!  Today I have two cards to show you that both use the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and coordinating Holiday Ornaments Framelits collection. 
 
The first card is one that we made at a Stampers Club meeting.  The Designer Paper is from the Festival of Prints DSP stack (where else?!) and the Lucky Limeade Circle was cut out using the Bigz Clear Circle Die (just now realized that is no longer available in the catalog!) and is about a 3 3/4" circle.  The circle is also sprayed with a combination of Frost White Shimmer Paint and Rubbing Alcohol to give it a subtle sparkle.

This card is one that I had designed as an option for my Stamp-A-Stack classes, but it ended up not making the cut.  :-)  Pretty simple, just takes a little time to do the paper piercing around the edges. 

The 'strings' that the ornaments are hanging from were drawn using a ruler and one of the new Silver Stampin' Dazzle Markers.

12 Days of Christmas--Day 8--Scentsational Cocoa

 
Day number 8 of my '12 Days of Christmas' series!  This cards is one that I saw demonstrated at the Stampin' Up! convention this past summer.  It's actually the card that finally convinced me to buy the Festival of Prints DSP stack.  :-)  It's nice because you cut one sheet from the stack exactly in half--getting 2 layers/two cards.   When we made these in a Stamp-A-Stack class, each person got 4 sheets of Designer Paper--all different--and they got to choose which side of the DSP they used on each card.

Really the only 'trick' to this card is stamping the mug.  First ink up with Gumball Green, then take your Blender Pen to remove the green ink just from the 'drink' part of the image.  Then use your Early Espresso marker to color in the drink.  Breathe on the stamp to re moisten the ink, and stamp on your card stock. 

Cute and simple!  I thought this would make an adorable invitation for a holiday get-together, but particularly a caroling/hot cocoa party.

12 Days of Christmas--Day 1--Tree Frame

Well it's been fun but crazy past couple weeks!  I've had Stamp-A-Stack classes, a class at my church, a craft bazaar at my daughter's preschool, and my regular Stamper's Club--a whirlwind of stamping.  :-)  So that means I have been stamping a lot and have lots of projects to share with you!  Most of what I've been doing is Christmas-related, so I thought it would be fun to do a '12 Days of Christmas' series on my blog.  So for the next 12 days I'm going to schedule a post with a Christmas project.  Just in case any of you are last minute crafters and need ideas--or for those who like to plan ahead for next year! 

 
The idea for this tree frame actually came from the Holiday Catalog--the gift bag on page 7.  I thought that was such a cute idea, although I figured if I went to that much work I wanted it to be framed, instead of on a bag that would probably be tossed.  :-)   I simplified a little and changed things up just a bit. 

These frames actually ended up being quite simple to make, and I made them with a group of ladies who have never stamped before--they were pleasantly surprised at how easy these were to put together. 

A couple notes of notes. . . When punching the 'wreath' and the star out of the middle of the scallop circle, start with the inside (smallest punch) first and then punch the outside (largest) second.  It is much easier to line up that way!  And, all of the Cherry Cobbler was sprayed with a mix of Frost White Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol.

Scrappy Enchantment

I was looking through my files at pictures of projects that I haven't posted on my blog and came across this scrapbook page.  I believe that we made this page at our February Stampers Club meeting, and it showcases several Sale-A-Bration items that are no longer available.  Although, the layout could easily be changed up with different Designer Paper.  And speaking of layout, I'm pretty sure that this idea was heavily inspired by another demonstrator on Stampin' Connection although I didn't keep track of who/where. 

A closer view:

You'll notice that the ribbon is curled.  That was a trick I learned from a presenter at the Fort Worth Regional I attended earlier this year.  You just take your scissors and run it along the ribbon like you would curling ribbon.  Cool, huh?

Delicate Butterfly

Back with yet another card sample that I created for my Stamp-A-Stack class and then also used as a swap at convention.  I used this for an "All Occasions" organized swap.  This card is fairly simple again, although it does rely heavily on the Big Shot. 

The two Cajun Craze 'fancy circles' come from the new Delicate Doilies Sizzlets die.  The Soft Suede circles come from the Circles #2 die.  Note: the smaller circle is a 1" circle, so you could use your 1" circle punch. Although, I found it easier to just cut it at the same time as the larger circle with the Circles #2 die. 

The lacey-looking border under the Soft Suede ribbon was done using the new Finishing Touches Edgelits die.  The butterfly was punched out from the gorgeous Comfort Cafe Designer Paper using the new Elegant Butterfly punch.  I wrapped some Linen Thread around the butterfly a couple times and kept it in place with a glue dot. 

The sentiment is from the Lovely Little Labels stamp set and punched out with the coordinating Little Labels punch pack.

I had already used this particular sheet of Designer Paper for not only this card but also for THIS scrapbook page, so I knew I wouldn't have enough to make all my swaps.  So, I picked another one of the papers from the same Comfort Cafe DSP set and changed from Cajun Craze to Summer Starfruit.  Although I'm not usually a 'yellow' person, I think I may actually like this one better: 

I actually made 80 of these cards!  Seven I made as full cards and will keep in my 'stash'.  The others were just card fronts--65 for the organized swap and the rest for swapping with demo friends that I only see at events.  Here is an 'in progress' picture:

Comfort Scrapping

I don't really consider myself a 'scrapbooker'.  I should scrapbook considering all the supplies I have :) but it's not something I've gotten into.  Maybe someday though!  I can handle a card size project, but a 12x12 page seems like a lot of space to fill!  But, my club ladies have been requesting an optional scrapbook page each time we meet, so I've been trying to provide that option--and maybe even work my way up to eventually hosting a scrap-a-stack.    

Anyway, this page is really pretty simple.  The DS paper is from the new Comfort Cafe set. Other new items include one of the Naturals Designer Buttons and shapes from the Apothecary Accents Framelits dies, paper pierced using the coordinating template that is part of the new Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack.   I scrunched up the Crumb Cake strip of paper and then flattened it out to add a little more texture.

Stampin' Celebration Returns!

Yay!  I'm so excited that the Stampin' Celebration blog is up and running again.  Although it was a well-timed break for me, I am ready to get going again.  There are a few changes though. . . instead of weekly challenges they will only be monthly.  But that gives you plenty of time to join with us and make a project inspired by the inspiration piece.  :-) 

Also, instead of posting all of the Design Team's projects on the Stampin' Celebration blog, we will be going blog hop style.  This makes it easy for you to click through and see not only a picture of everyone's project but some creative details too. 

Which means if you are following in order you may have just come from Rochelle's blog--I stamp, I create, I have fun!  What a cute project she had!   

Without further ado, here is my submission for this month's challenge: 

I pulled the green, pink, and blue colors from the inspiration piece as well as the butterflies from the bottom right photo. 

To create the various size butterflies, I used my new Hearts Collection Framelits Dies.  I've had this idea to create butterflies out of the heart framelits for awhile and finally tried it out on a card!  For the butterflies on these projects I used the 3 smallest sized hearts. 

For the butterfly on the this little purse  I used the very smallest heart.  I cut Twitterpated Designer Series Paper (from the Occasions Mini Catalog) and vellum paper to size, folded it in half and then ran in through the Big Shot with the Framelit die with the point of the heart sticking over the edge of the fold.  Then when you open it up you have a butterfly.  :-) 

If you don't recognize this cute little purse, it's because it is brand new!  It is the new Petite Purse Die that's part of the Summer Smooches promotion going on during April.  Isn't it adorable? 

To create the vellum paper butterflies on the cards, I used the same concept, just the next larger size heart die.  To create the butterfly 'window' on the Whisper White layer (since I didn't want to fold the card stock) I ran it through the Big Shot twice.  I placed the heart on one side of the layer, ran it through the Big Shot, placed the heart on the other side with the point of the heart overlapping the point of the previously cut heart, and then ran it through again.  Sounds much more confusing than it is!

Stampin Celebration Inspiration Challenge

Last Minute Sale-A-Bration

Just popping in today with a couple more cards made using Sale-A-Bration products.  And just a last minute reminder that if you've still been meaning to take advantage of Sale-A-Bration, now is the time since it ends tomorrow--Saturday the 31st. The idea for this card came from Sharon Field.  If you are a demonstrator, you can see her card HERE on Stampin' Connection.  I changed the color and that was about it!  I picked Calypso Coral since I wanted to use the ribbon from the Everyday Enrichment Pack.  I've used almost two sets of the brads, but sadly have barely touched the ribbon.   A very simple card that I'm sure I'll be making some more of soon!

The second card is super simple and uses the Outlined Occasions stamp set.  I did heat emboss the sentiment, and then used my Versamarker to color it in.  It makes the sentiment pop just a little more (especially in real life).  The Designer Series Paper is actually the Twitterpated set from the Occasions Mini Catalog--with a thin strip of Riding Hood Red card stock on top.

I can't believe it has been almost 2 months since I last posted!  Where does the time go?  I guess part of it is having a curious crawling baby who gets into everything and keeps me on my toes.  :-) 

I've also been working on organizing my craft room with any spare time I can find. . . a scary and much needed project!  Although I'm not there yet, I am getting very close.

San Antonio Regionals--Part 2

Finally back with some more samples from my presentation at the San Antonio Regionals!  I'll do a Part 3 (and final) later this week.  So, the second part of my presentation was showing that you can use the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets to add Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to just part of a stamped image.  

So for this card, I started by stamping an image from the new Apothecary Art stamp set.  I ran it through the Big Shot using the new Framelits Labels Collection to cut it out and used my markers to color the flowers.  Next I used my 1" Circle Punch to punch out a circle of the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet.  I used my bone folder to burnish the edges (making it easier to peel the back off) and peeled off the backing.  I face planted the sticky side of the adhesive sheet on top of the circle part of the stamped image.  I used an Embossing Buddy to help cut down on static, and then peeled off the other side of the backing.  Pour the Dazzling Diamonds Glitter over the top and brush off any excess.  Now part of your stamped image is sparkly.  :-)  

This is a 3" by 3" card.  To create the slits that I ran the ribbon through, I used the cutting blade on my Cutter Kit, and for the Whisper White layer I sponged and distressed the edges and used my Color Spritzer tool and Early Espresso marker to add the random 'dots' of color.

This is another sample I had on my board, although it is a 're-do' of a project I've done before.  It's a little Valentine matchbox treat.  My daughter gave these out to her preschool class last year.  You can see more info, as well as cutting measurements HERE.  Pretty much the only difference was that I used my Small Heart punch to punch out a pieces of the Multipurose Adhesive Sheet to add the Pink Stampin' Glitter (from the Fine Supernova collection)--instead of using the Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Open Sea Thanks

With all of the excitement of the new catalog, don't forget that we have great Summer Mini Catalog too.  :-)  This is a card I've made with all of my stampers clubs, and it features The Open Sea stamp set.  I really like this stamp set as it works perfectly for masculine projects as well as travel-related projects. 

This idea came from one of the Stampin' Success (for demonstrators) magazine.  Although I generally like to create my own projects, I'll admit it is nice to have fantastic ideas provided by Stampin' Up so that if I am short on ideas or time I still have great projects.

This card actually uses every single stamp that is part of The Open Sea stamp set--kind of fun.  :-)  Minus the ship that is on the card base, they are all stamped on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I sponged around the edges and lightly everywhere with Crumb Cake ink.  That piece is layered on a piece of Designer Series Paper from the coordinating Nautical Expedition DSP pack.  

The finishing touches are a Mini Library Clip with a bit of the new Early Espresso/White Baker's Twine tied around.

Postage Card Packs

I made up several of these card sets as end-of -the-year teacher appreciation gifts.  I figure that teachers can always use thank you cards around the end of the year, so I made up sets of 8 to package together as gifts.  

These are really simple card sets to make.  I used my Postage Stamp Punch from the Summer Mini Catalog and the Play Date Designer Series Paper.  Note: the Play Date DSP is being discontinued, and is on sale for 40% off right now!  

I also used the new White Baker's Twine from the Summer Mini Catalog to add a few little details.  Almost all of the squares are up on dimensionals.  On the bottom card in the photo, I put the top right and bottom left squares up on dimensionals and adhered the other two down to the card base--gives a little more variety in depth and adds interest. The sentiment comes from the stamp set Trendy Trees.

You'll notice I used 3 different layouts and just varied the patterns of paper used.  To see the original card set that inspired this set, click HERE.  For these sets I ran out of time to make up some card folders, so I just tied them up with some Early Espresso Striped Grosgrain ribbon and added a tag.

Father's Day Treats

 

At church I work with the children's organization, and I usually try to have some sort of little treat/gift for the teachers on major holidays just to remind the teachers and staff that we appreciate them and all their hard work.  So, these are the Father's Day gifts I made up for this year to appreciate all the men who teach classes or work with the Cub Scouts.   

I used some Designer Paper that was in my stash--I believe it was from the Summer Mini last year--and just wrapped the mini candy bars.  I used a tiny bit of Snail adhesive between the bars to help hold the stack together while I tied on the ribbon and tag.  

The tags use the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  I stamped and then punched out using the Word Window punch and the Modern Label punch. 

I quite enjoyed making up these little treats since they were very quick and simple.  Just by altering the Designer Paper that you use, I think these would be great for party favors too (birthday, baby shower, etc).

Nautical Expedition Tins

Today I'm back with some more photos and details for the second project that I posted during the Stampin' Addicts Summer Mini Blog Hop.  You can see my original post HERE.  Today I'll show some close ups of the Mini Scrapbook Tin that I made showcasing the Nautical Expedition Designer Series Paper that is found in the new Summer Mini Catalog.  

Above you see the outside of the tin. These tins can still be purchased from Stampin Up--but only on the Clearance Rack in the online store--meaning only while supplies last.  I added a belly band to the tin with a 2" strip of Basic Gray card stock, a 1" strip of Nautical Expedition DSP, and some White Baker's Twine.  The center globe image is from the stamp set The Open Sea--a coordinating set.   I hand cut around the globe image and then layered it onto a Cherry Cobbler circle I punched out with the 2  1/2" Circle Punch.  

When you slide off the belly band and open the tin, this is what you see:  

I think that ship image--again from the set The Open Sea--is one of my favorite.  I love how much detail is has, and yet how crisp it is.  Notice the little Tab Pull in the top right that is a small piece of Twill Tape looped.  When you pull on that you see:  

And a closer look at the pages of this mini scrapbook: 

The pages are 4 3/4" tall and 4" wide.  I started with two pieces of Whisper White card stock that were 4 3/4" by 12" and then scored at 4" and 8".  I accordion folded them and adhered the last section of one to the first section of the next to make a continuous accordion fold.  I used Sticky Strip to adhere the card stock to the tin.
